San Diego pool safety fence cost calculator
How does this calculator work?
Enter the length of fence around the pool and pick a type. We multiply by published installed per-foot ranges and show the result next to what 2026 City of San Diego pool permits declared, so you can see the barrier's share of the project. A 100-ft removable mesh fence works out to about $1,500–$3,500 installed.

Ranges, not quotes. Where a number comes from City permit values it is a lower-bound estimate: permit values are declared construction values and many use a standard rate.
Where every number comes from
- Per-foot installed ranges: compiled by fencemypool.com from HomeGuide (Feb 2026), Life Saver Pool Fence and Pool Guard USA. These are national installer ranges; we found no San Diego-specific published price, so get local quotes.
- Pool permit values: City of San Diego development permits (data.sandiego.gov), pool/spa building permits issued Jan 1–Oct 15, 2026 with a declared valuation (297 permits). Declared construction value, not a quote.
- Fence-after-pool timing: measured by us from the same permit data (9 parcels with separate permits; small sample).
